Located inside the arched radius of windows that has become the icon for Gateway’s campus, the two-story First Niagara Library and Learning Commons, is an anchor for students and faculty. With Wi-Fi available, its collection includes 50,000 print books, 30,000 electronic books and research databases also available online.
The space combines traditional library and media center functions with classrooms for teaching, research, study and visiting lecturers. Its reading areas can seat more than 200 people. Administrative spaces are distributed throughout for improved student interaction.
The first floor of the library is the Quiet Zone, with group study rooms, study carrels and Kids Cove, a children’s library and reading area for use by Gateway’s Early Learning Center. The second floor houses the Service Desk & Help Zone, a 30-computer lab, C-Pod Study Area with workstations, Media/ADA Room, study rooms, meeting rooms and a copy room.
The library was made possible in part through a charitable grant from First Niagara Foundation, the philanthropic arm of First Niagara Bank, N.A.
