Circulation Changes for Fall 2020

  • The physical library space will be reopening on Monday, October 5. Library hours will be Mondays 9-1 and Thursdays 12-4. Access to the library is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Appointments may be made at https://gwcc.libcal.com/reserve/distancing.
  • Library assistance is available via the library homepage at www.gatewayct.edu/library.
  • Virtual library hours will continue 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Fridays, and 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturdays.
  • A limited number of graphing calculators will be available for semester checkout. Please refer to the column on the left hand side or text box below for the procedures to request one. An online graphing calculator app is available through Wabbitemu.org.
  • Reserve textbooks are available with instructor permission. If you want to borrow a reserve book, you will need to email your professor and have her/him email mgarcia3@gwcc.commnet.edu with your name and Banner ID number. Once it is processed you will have a one week loan period with no renewals.
  • Laptops are NOT available.
  • A limited number of computers will be available in the library. The computer lab in N200 is also open by appointment only via the booking link on the Ed Tech homepage at https://gwcc.libguides.com/c.php?g=697535&p=7854497.
  • The flatbed scanner will be available for in-library use during open hours but the copier/scanner is now located outside of N100. Copying is still $0.10 per page but scanning is free and there is a USB port for a flash drive allowing you to scan directly to the drive. For technical support please contact the IT Help Desk at 203-285-2040.

Appointments

Returning Library Materials

  • Patrons wishing to return library materials (books, magazines, calculators, etc.) may use the drop-off box next to the main security desk in the lobby of the entrance of the North building on the corner of Church and George.
  • Drop-off hours are 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Fridays. If you need to return materials outside of those hours, please contact Miguel García at mgarcia3@gwcc.commnet.edu to make alternative arrangements.
  • Masks MUST be worn to enter the College.
  • Due to Covid-19, all materials will be held in quarantine according to State of Connecticut and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines until they can be safely handled by library personnel. You will receive an email in your Gateway email account when your item(s) has/have been checked in. If you have not received an email with five (5) business days please contact the library at library@gatewayct.edu or via phone at 203-285-2057.

Requesting Library Materials

Due to Covid-19, the library stacks will be closed to patrons. However, library personnel will be retrieving and processing materials on an as needed basis. Library materials may be requested in a variety of ways:

      1. Sign in with your NetID and password
      2. Click on the "Request" button and follow the instructions
  2. You will receive an email in your Gateway email account when your item(s) is/are ready for pick up. If you have not received an email within five (5) business days please contact the library though any of the above methods with the exception of GatewaySearch.
  3. Items will be left on a table next to the main security desk in the lobby of the entrance of the North building on the corner of Church and George. You will need to present an ID to pick up your requested materials.
  4. Pick up hours are 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Fridays. If you need to pick up materials outside of those hours, please contact Miguel García at mgarcia3@gwcc.commnet.edu to make alternative arrangements.
  5. Masks MUST be worn to enter the College.
  6. Materials will be available for five (5) business days. Items that have not been picked up within that time frame will be returned to the library, checked back in, and you will need to submit a new request.

Borrowing Graphing Calculators

  • A limited number of graphing calculators will be available for checkout for the fall 2020 semester by emailing library@gatewayct.edu
  • Library staff is only on campus twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays so it can take up a few days for your request to be processed. Calculators will be lent out for fall term on a first come first serve basis
  • Once a request has been made, a calculator will be checked out to you and will be due back by Friday, December 18 . You will be receive an email on your Gateway email indicating that it is ready for pick-up in the lobby with the main security desk in the North building on the corner of George and Church.
  • Pick up and drop-off hours are 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Fridays. If you need to pick up materials outside of those hours, please contact Miguel García at mgarcia3@gwcc.commnet.edu to make alternative arrangements or if you have any questions.

Free Online Graphing Calculator

  • Patrons who wish to use a free online graphing calculator may find instructions on how to download the Wabbitemu app onto their phones and some tablets at the following site: http://wabbitemu.org/

Search the library catalog for books, eBooks, articles, DVDs, streaming videos, and more:

 
  • To request items for curbside pick-up, after clicking "Search", you must sign in with your NetID and password and then select the "Request" button.
  • Ebooks can be read or downloaded on a computer or electronic device. Off campus access will require your NetID and password.
